BOOK A CALL

As a business owner, it’s so important that you take the time to work ON your business, not just IN it.

We know that you are probably aware that in order for your business to be able to achieve the goals you have set for it, you will need to spend time working towards those goals. It may also be obvious to you that the best way to do this is by setting time aside clearly in your diary to do this. What’s often less simple is ensuring that you actually stick to the time that you’ve set aside and that you use that time effectively.

If you’re not strict about the time that you’ve set aside to work on your business, it can be tempting to think “oh I’ll just squeeze in one more patient”, and over time, it can be very easy to fall into the habit of pushing the time to work on your business further and further back, and developing your business can start to take a back seat.

To combat this, we recommend starting to treat your business as if it were one of your patients – even better, elevate the state of your business to being your most important patient. You wouldn’t cancel a patient’s appointment, so you shouldn’t cancel your business’s ‘appointment’ either. It’s so important that you give your patient (your business) the time that it deserves. It’s important to remember that if you don’t take care of this most important patient, and look after the health of your business, it could mean that you are no longer able to serve your other patients later down the line.

Another obstacle you might face when it comes to spending time on your business is that you may not use the time you allocate effectively. It’s so easy to think “I’ll just respond to a few emails” or “I’ll just tidy my desk so I can work better”, and before you know it, the time you’ve allocated has disappeared and you’ve not really achieved anything tangible in the time.

To overcome this, it’s so important that when allocating the time to spend on your business, you plan exactly what you’re going to do with your time. Even if you’re only setting 30 minutes aside, you’ll be surprised how much can be done in a short space of time if you are focused on just one thing. So, when putting time in your diary to work on your business, make sure you detail exactly what you’re going to do with that time, and, even better, what you’d like to achieve by the end of your allotted time. This will definitely help you to get more done, and make real progress with achieving your goals for your business.
